I know, I know. The majority of my engagement sessions this past summer were shot at Stoney Creek Metro Park. I can’t help that this park is the perfect location! Stephanie and Dean wanted romantic, outdoorsy vibes on their shoot so where better to go than Stoney Creek?
At their pre-session consultation, Stephanie told me that she loved how happy everyone in my photos look. My clients are always laughing and hugging and look so natural while doing it! It’s one of the things that she loves the most about my photography, but since she and Dean are not giggly or goofy people, she was nervous that they wouldn’t look happy in their photos.
The truth is, there’s nothing about me that makes my clients happier (although I like to think that I can make their photo session a fun time!). I just know that the most beautiful photos contain the happiest people which is why I try and make my client’s experiences as comfortable and stress-free as possible. That way, the happiness they already possess can show through. You don’t have to be a giggly, goofy type in order to look happy in your photos. I want to photograph you as you truly are, in a way that is genuine and not forced. If you are also nervous about looking grumpy and unhappy in your wedding/engagement photos, the best advice I can give you is to find a photographer who makes you feel relaxed and seen. Aside from that, just be yourself!
On the day of their engagement shoot, is was cloudy and overcast. The potential of rain can be scary when you’re getting your photos done, but I get so excited when I see its going to be overcast! Cloudy-ness diffuses the light which means we can shoot anywhere we want without worrying about the sun, harsh shadows, or squinty eyes. Not only do rainclouds give you great lighting, it also gave an incredible moodiness to this session which I love. Right as we were taking the last few shots, we heard a huge thunderclap above our heads! We all jumped and I said “That’s a wrap!” It was the perfect ending to a super moody engagement session.
Stephanie and Dean, thank you so much for trusting me with your photos! You two truly shine in these images and I can see your happiness and confidence so brightly. I cannot wait until your wedding day!
Liv
PS. We may have gotten a little
goofy towards the end of this shoot 🙂
