This engagement shoot was extra special because the shooting location, Stony Creek Metropark, is the same place where Don proposed to Kelsey! They both love the outdoors, and back on this particular day, they were playing golf. Don knows that Kelsey is not routinely the best at golf, so he had this great plan to give her a little sass about her game, and then propose to her at the last hole. He was gonna wait till the very end, bend down on one knee to fix the tee, and then pull out the ring and ask the big question.
Things didn’t go according to plan when Kelsey ended up doing really well! The game was almost over, and she was playing the best game of her life! (Okay maybe not the best game of her life, but I’m tellin a story here lol) Don quickly improvised and pretended to pick up something she dropped. As Kelsey realized what was happening, Don asked her to marry him.
Obviously, she said yes! It was so dreamy to not only be taking these photos at such a momentous place for them. They made it extra sweet by bringing their dog, Nelly! She was the perfect little puppy model. Don and Kelsey let her run around to her doggie heart’s content while we were getting couples shot of them. Later on we called her over for some family photos.
Quick tip for bringing dogs on photoshoots: Let the photographer say the commands like “sit”, “stay”, etc. Dogs look at the person who is talking to them or giving them treats. By allowing me to give Nelly the commands, we were able to get these adorable photos of the three of them with Nelly perfectly looking right at the camera.
I had such a fun time on this shoot and feel so honored to be able to capture this unique stage of Kelsey and Don’s relationship in such a dear place to them!
Cheers to the happy couple! I cannot wait until your wedding!!
