Urban Golden Hour, Detroit Michigan – Engagement Session

These two are such happy, funny, positive people and I genuinely had so much fun with them on their shoot! As you’ll see in some of the rooftop photos, Omais and Carly aren’t afraid to get a little silly and carefree. Omais keeps Carly laughing constantly, and Carly take such good care of him. They are such a perfect fit together. I cannot wait to see them get married in just a few short weeks!

Carly and Omais are not only a perfect match, they are also devoted Detroiters. You can pretty much always find them on a date downtown. Omais even proposed to Carly in front of Comerica Park! As a result, this location was so perfect for them. Downtown Detroit is such an iconic location for their relationship, and it is also the perfect place to get golden hour photos with a little bit of urban greenery. If you’re not dancing on a rooftop somewhere in Detroit during golden hour, then you’re missing out.

While Carly and Omais are very lighthearted and cheery, I could tell Carly was a little bit nervous when the shoot first started. It’s hard not to be! Most of my clients have never had professional photos taken, don’t know me super well until after the engagement shoot, and want to make sure they look great in their photos. It can be hard not to compare yourself to other brides/models you see in BHLDN ads or on Instagram. But, to all my future brides I want to say this: you are gorgeous. And I swear to you that your gorgeous-ness will shine through your photos.

If you feel like you’re not going to “pose right” or you’re not going to know what to do in front of the camera, that’s where I come in! I have spent the last *insert years watching Sue Bryce videos* years studying how to direct natural poses.  This posing is extremely subtle and is still wholly authentic to you. Plus, you don’t have to look as perfect as “everyone else”. You can just be as perfect as you! If you’re still unconvinced and nervous, don’t take my word for it! Just look at Carly’s photos below!
