Congratulations to Abe and Audrey!! I am so excited for these two to get married. They met through mutual friend groups years ago, and are now eagerly counting down the days till their summer wedding. They love coffeeshops, fast cars, and classical music, so the locations for their engagement session were perfect.
Shooting at the Detroit Institute of Arts is always a dance…there’s at least three photographers there at any given time! If you’re lucky, its only other couples with their photographer so it’s not hard to share the space. It’s such a stunning location, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular! It is so classically Detroit, and yet, at the same time allows my couples to shine as the focus in every image. I love this location.
Audrey planned out their wardrobe perfectly! I like to recommend that my couples bring something real fancy and something “date night” cute. Can you imagine this photo with them in jeans and a t-shirt?! It just wouldn’t match the location or the occasion! Engagement sessions are all about you two and it’s the time to get as FANCY AS YOU WANT! Paint your nails! Get your makeup professionally done! Everyone you know will be adoring these gorgeous photos and you should enjoy the moment to wear something as fancy as you’d like. (PS. I love floor length dresses and/or sparkles)
From there we moved on to something more casual. It was the end of December for this session and despite it being strangely warm for Michigan, we headed straight to Great Lakes Coffee Roasters to warm up! Abe just got a snazzy red Mustang, so we drove there in style.
I don’t know about you, but I LOOOOVE coffee shop vibes. My husband and I had 90% of our dates at coffeeshops, so whenever my couples want to swing by one on their engagement sessions, I’m always down for it. This one has a particularly fantastic Spiced Chai Latte, which I highly recommend you try.
Audrey has studied Classical Music for the last few years and basically lived inside this building. I love being able to work with my couples and really plan out their engagement sessions so its a representation of who they are and where they fell in love. I can take gorgeous photos of you anywhere…we might as well make it someplace sentimental to you 🙂
