Detroit Engagement Session – Kelsey and Bill

Let me introduce you to Kelsey and Bill.

A.K.A: The cutest couple ever. They’re getting married in Ohio but wanted a Detroit engagement session, because it’s near and dear to them. Kelsey works downtown, and she and Bill have made so many great memories in the city.

We shot their engagement photos at the Detroit Institute of Arts which is one of my all-time favorite locations. It is so iconic of Detroit and it’s the perfect blank canvas for creativity. You can wear a bright red gown (like my girl Audrey did) or be slightly more laid back. It is so timeless, elegant, and is perfect the perfect background to allow Kelsey and Bill to shine as a couple.

Have you ever had a parking garage attendant be your hype man? I had set up my changing tent in a parking garage before we headed to a more urban location so that Kelsey and Bill could change into their “date night” outfit. I noticed the man working at the parking garage staring at us and the tent really strangely. Then Kelsey came out in a new outfit and he went, “Ohhhhhh! It’s a PHOTOSHOOT!” He had been trying to figure out what we were doing with a black phone booth shaped tent in a parking garage the whole time. After he realized what we were up to he oohed and ahhed over each new outfit. Best hype man ever.

 

Kelsey and Bill were such a joy to work with. You would never guess from these photos that it was only 35 degrees outside. Kelsey rocked that dress like a boss. They were so trusting of my vision, despite the fact they were freezing. I am so appreciative when clients can trust the process and we can get amazing photos.
