Belle Isle Engagement Session

You’ve heard of high school sweethearts… well Amy and Austin are basically middle school sweethearts. They have gone to every prom together, every year of high school, then college…. and now they’re getting married! When we first started planning out their engagement session, Amy knew that she wanted really romantic golden “fairytale” vibes. She and I looked into a few different options, but after finding photo fees, sketchy approvals, and locations that just didn’t quite fit the vision, we finally landed on Belle Isle engagement session. Friends, it did not disappoint.

Belle Isle Engagement Session

Belle isle was a DREAM. I always love shooting there because there are so many amazing spots for photos. I could shoot every engagement session here, I could make each one look different! It’s also such an iconic Detroit location. I have not been to any other city that has a place quite like belle isle. It’s so relaxed, and yet elegant. On this particular night, we ended up getting a stunning golden hour and sunset.

The majority of the roads on Belle Isle were already under construction for the upcoming Grand Prix, but Amy and Austin were so flexible about it! They jumped in my car and together we drove around a few times until we finally found a sidewalk to make our way to the Belle Isle Casino.

Austin and Amy are so perfect for each other. On a typical weeknight you’ll find them at one of his hockey games or hanging out with their sweet golden retriever puppy Kidney Bean.

You know those people you meet, and they are just old souls? Austin and Amy are like that. They are sweet and soft spoken. They are encouraging, yet challenge each other. Once you get to know them they can be super silly, but mostly they just take really good care of each other. I’m so so excited for them to get married!
